Southern rock band, Needtobreathe performed along with the Daylights at the Theater of the Living Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They are fresh off their European tour and are already in the midst of their Young and Far From Home tour, the last one that will be centered around their 2009 album, The Outsiders.
The Young and Far From Home Set List
Needtobreathe had a varied set-list that included songs from earlier albums such as The Heat from 2007 along with new ones that they are working on. Some songs that were played included:
- The Outsiders
- Prisoner
- More Time
- Girl Named Tennessee
- Devil's Been Talking (new)
- Stones Under Rushing Water
- Washed by the Water
- Something Beautiful
- Lay 'Em Down
- We Could Run Away
- Valley of Tomorrow
The show began quietly, with the band and lead-singer Bear Rinehart warming up with a softer version of The Outsiders before jumping right into Prisoner and the big fan favorite More Time from the major motion picture P.S. I Love You which was written by Bo Rinehart.
Performance at the Theater of the Living Arts
Their show earlier tonight was different from seeing them last spring. It was more raw, emotional and engaging then it had been previously. The boys of Needtobreathe were amazing and really put on a solid show for a fairly packed theater. They were very into their performance throughout the entire set, and included some unexpected parts like when Bo Rinehart appeared on top of the piano after what was supposed to be their last song to then lead the band into an action-packed, full-hearted performance of The Outsiders to fully cap-off the night
One thing that has remained clear about this South Carolina band is that, Needtobreathe is a band that formed for the love of it, and then they made it. It is a joy to watch them perform as they share with the audience their passion for music and for the things they sing about like love, God and the different relationships we carry on through life. Their music is engaging, passionate and awakening. For good, strong therapy– listen to Needtobreathe.
The New Album
Their growing reputation as a band will remain in what they come out with next. Needtobreathe gave concert goers a taste of their new work, which included three songs. All of which were emotionally charged and enough to get anyone up and dancing to the sound. From what was played, their next album sounds as though it will be different from their last, but they will deliver and will again engage us with everything that they have to offer. They are definitely growing as artists and as a band.
Partnership with the Palmetto Medical Initiative
Needtobreathe has also partnered with Palmetto Medical Initiative, an organization based in their hometown of Charleston, South Carolina that provides medical care and training to the people of Uganda. PMI has tables set up at their shows so people can talk with them to see how they can get involved. Needtobreathe has also done a limited edition run of artwork and posters from Needtobreathe's past and has stated that all proceeds from the sale of these items will be directly given to the Palmetto Medical Intiative.
Their next leg of the Young and Far From Home Tour will take them to Cleveland, Ohio on November 9th and then to Royal Oak, Michigan on the 10th.
